Last year we spent six months in a caravan driving around Australia while homeschooling our two boys. Our trip was an awesome experience for them and it certainly helped bring many of their school lessons to life. Not only was the trip fun, they learnt many new things along the way. It gave […]
Sadly, our five and a half month Lap of Oz has come to an end. Our boys were very sad to be heading back to the Gold Coast, as they really enjoyed the trip, so much more than we had anticipated. We knew from the start, that our trip was going to be a budget […]
During our 147 day trip around Australia, we hitched and unhitched the van numerous times. We tried to stay connected as much as we could, especially at free camps, but sometimes we just had to unhitch. As we had never had a caravan before and really had no idea what we were doing, we made […]
After having such an amazing adventure, I was looking at ways to keep some memories of our trip when I came across this My Monopoly Boardgame. I can’t remember exactly where I purchased it from, I’m pretty sure it was a Big W or Kmart and it was on sale for $10. Our boys love playing […]

Day 146 After leaving Bingara early, we had a big driving day, heading for Yelgun Rest Area to spend the night before heading back into the Gold Coast the following day. This time we drove through Innisfale, Glen Innes, Grafton and then up the coast. It was quite a wet day and we were lucky […]
Days 142-145 After a confusing morning at Hickey Falls, we ended up leaving at 7:30am. We were planning to sleep in and have a restful morning, but we all woke up early and then realised that day-light saving had started in NSW, so we had a extra hour given to us as well. We headed […]
Day 141 On the way to Hickey Falls, we stopped in again at The Dish in Parkes. We stopped here on the way to picking up the van, but the boys loved it and wanted to go back.
Day 140 Today we left Ardlethan after a relaxing night and headed to Forbes. On the way we stopped at West Wyalong to take a look at the RAAF Plane. Of course, he had to have a good at moving the propeller. And it worked! Then we were off to the Forbes Rest Area […]
Day 139 Today we headed to Ardlethan. This free camp also has power for $2 for 12 hours. The only problem is that there are only 4 power poles and if you aren’t in early, you can’t get close to the power. We stayed on the opposite side of the bushes in the photo above.
Days 137 and 138 Today we headed over the Vic/NSW border to a little town called Moama. We booked into a new caravan park that is still only half built, called Moama Waters. We were in site #21. The first day we were there, was shower and washing day. The second day was B’s Birthday. […]
